How to Use MASCHINE Controller in Mackie Control Mode with Digital Performer 7

In order to use the MASCHINE Controller in Mackie Control mode (MCU mode) with Digital Performer, carry out the steps below.

Appending the Mackie Control Template

First, make sure that the Mackie Control template is available from the MASCHINE Controller:

  1. Start Controller Editor. The application is found here:
    • OS X: Macintosh HD > Applications > Native Instruments > Controller Editor
    • Windows: C: > Program Files > Native Instruments > Controller Editor
  2. Select Maschine from the drop-down menu in the upper left corner and then choose the MASCHINE model corresponding to your device. In this example, Maschine Controller (MASCHINE MK1) has been selected.
  3. Check if the Templates tab on the right hand side contains a Mackie Control entry. Otherwise proceed with step 4 to add it.
  4. Open the Factory Templates menu and  choose Mackie Control from the sub-menu. It should appear in the Templates list now.

Choosing the Mackie Control Template on the MASCHINE Controller

  1. Switch the MASCHINE Controller to MIDI mode by pressing SHIFT + CONTROL
  2. Load the Mackie Control Template. To do this, press SHIFT again and use the arrow keys to skip through the available templates until you get to the Mackie Control Template.

Setting Up Digital Performer

  1. Start Digital Performer and create a project. Then open the Setup menu and choose Control Surface Setup....
  2. In the window that opens, click the + button to add a driver.

  3. Open the Driver menu and choose Mackie Control.

  4. Open the Input Port menu, go to Unconfigured Ports > Maschine Controller MIDI input port 0 and choose Maschine Controller MIDI input port 0-1.
  5. Open the Output Port menu, go to Unconfigured Ports and choose Maschine Controller MIDI output port 0.
  6. Click OK to confirm the new settings.

Now you are ready use MASCHINE in Mackie Control mode.
