This article explains how to operate the Aetherizer granular delay effect in Absynth in order to create clouds of sound that relate harmonically to the original sound.
The example preset described here can be downloaded as an attachment at the end of this article.
You may consult the Komplete TruTorials video Out of the Aether for a quick overview of the example setup described in this article.
- Load an instance of Absynth, either as an instrument or as a plug-in effect on an audio channel in your host application.
- Switch to the Effect Window using the menu at the top of the interface. You may also need to open the window by clicking Effect in the top left of the interface.
- Select Aetherizer from the effect list using the small yellow button.
- In the Output section, turn up the Wet mix and turn the Dry mix down to increase the level of the delayed signal relative to the original.
- In the Grain section, increase the Feedback parameter to 100% by dragging the cursor upward from the diamond-shaped button immediately to the right of the percentage value.
- Turn on the Aetherizer’s Filter using the yellow button to the right of its label.
- Select Octotonic from the drop-down Filter Quantize menu. A new Transpose parameter labelled Trans will appear below the menu. Increase this value to 12.00 semitones.
- Return to the Grain section, and increase the duration (Grain Dur) to 100.00%.
- In the Tone section, increase the Transpose value to 24.000.
