Note: Since TRAKTOR PRO 3.1.0, individual controls on the Kontrol S8 and the Kontrol D2 can now be custom mapped (over-mapped) via the Controller Manager. The information below is valid for TRAKTOR PRO 2 and TRAKTOR PRO 3 until version 3.1.0).
The TRAKTOR KONTROL S8 / D2 default mapping, unlike other Native Instruments DJ controllers, cannot be edited in TRAKTOR's Controller Manager. This means that you cannot customize the default mapping. Therefore, the mapping details and options will not be displayed in the Controller Manager:
This restriction is due to the complexity of the integration between the hardware controller and the software. This integration includes the displays on the hardware controller, among other advanced features. If you wish to customize a mapping for your TRAKTOR KONTROL S8 / D2, you can switch the device to MIDI mode by holding down SHIFT + (KONTROL S8: right button) BACK button (below the Browse encoder) simultaneously. The displays will indicate that your controller is now in MIDI mode. Now you can create a MIDI mapping for your KONTROL S8 / D2 by going to Preferences > Controller Manager, and then selecting Add... > Generic MIDI from the drop-down menu.
This will create an empty MIDI mapping where you can add, edit and customize your own set of commands. Please note that a MIDI mapping is not capable of emulating the functionality of the default mapping, including that of the hardware displays.
