This article will guide you through the required steps to add your KOMPLETE INSTRUMENTS' user content (FM8 / MASSIVE / ABSYNTH Sounds, BATTERY Kits, KONTAKT Instruments) to the KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser.
Note: The steps to add the REAKTOR 5 Ensembles to KOMPLETE KONTROL are described in this Knowledge Base article.
After completing these steps, your custom presets will be available in the User section of the KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser. Note: KONTAKT 5 Multis and BATTERY 4 Monolithic files are not supported in KOMPLETE KONTROL and cannot be added to the browser. In order to display your KOMPLETE user content in the KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser, you need to carry out the following steps:
- Copying your KOMPLETE user content to the KOMPLETE KONTROL User Content folder
- Scanning KOMPLETE KONTROL's User Content folder
Copying your KOMPLETE User Content to the KOMPLETE KONTROL User Content Folder
First, you must copy all your user content to the common User Content folder used by KOMPLETE KONTROL.
- Navigate to your KOMPLETE user content folders. These are the default locations where the user content for your KOMPLETE Instruments is stored:
- ABSYNTH 5: Macintosh HD > User > *Username* > Documents > Native Instruments > Absynth 5 > Sounds
- BATTERY 4: Macintosh HD > User > *Username* > Documents > Native Instruments > Battery 4 > Kits
- FM8: Macintosh HD > User > *Username* > Documents > Native Instruments > FM8 > Sounds
- KONTAKT 5: Macintosh HD > User > *Username* > Documents
- KONTAKT Instruments: Macintosh HD > Users > Shared > *KONTAKT Instrument* > Instruments
- MASSIVE: Macintosh HD > User > *Username* > Documents > Native Instruments > Massive> Sounds
- Copy your KOMPLETE Instrument's user content to your clipboard. In this example, we are copying the whole content of the BATTERY 4 Kits folder by selecting all the kits present in this folder (cmd + A), right-clicking them and choosing Copy X Items.
- Paste the user content you have in your clipboard to the KOMPLETE KONTROL "User Content" folder, which is located here:
Mac: Macintosh HD > Users > *Username* > Documents > Native Instruments > User Content
- Repeat these steps for all the KOMPLETE Instruments you are using.
Note: To keep a better overview of the files in the "User Content" folder, you can create sub-folders, named after the KOMPLETE Instruments you are using. These sub-folders will not affect the sorting in the KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser.
Scanning the KOMPLETE KONTROL User Content folder
Once the user content for all your KOMPLETE Products is copied to the "User Content" folder, KOMPLETE KONTROL needs to scan this folder in order to update its database with the new content.
- Open KOMPLETE KONTROL (stand-alone or as a plug-in in your host software).
- Open the Preferences and go to the User Library tab. By default, the only user directory listed here is the "User Content" folder, to which you have previously copied your KOMPLETE user content.
- Press the Rescan button in order to update KOMPLETE KONTROL's database with the new content of the folder.
- Once the "User Content" folder has been scanned, you will find your user content in the KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser under Library > User. To access the BATTERY Kits we have added to the "User Content" folder, activate the Browser categories highlighted in the screenshots below.
- KOMPLETE KONTROL software Browser:
- KOMPLETE KONTROL on-screen overlay Browser, accessed from the hardware (Use the up / down buttons and the encoder to access your User Content):
