This article will explain how to load multiple samples into one single Cell in Battery.
In certain scenarios, you may wish to load multiple samples into one Battery Cell for sound layering, or for triggering samples at different velocity levels.
Select your version of Battery to view the instructions.
Battery 4
- Go to the Battery 4 Preferences menu (File > Preferences).
- Click the Loading tab. In the Samples area, Battery 4 is set by default to Expand Over Multiple Cells when multiple samples are loaded.
- To change the behaviour so Battery loads multiple samples into a single Cell, select the option Merge in One Cell.
- Drag and drop some samples into one Cell. Once loaded, you will find each sample listed separately in the Editor tab. In the screenshot below, each sample is set to be triggered individually, based on the incoming MIDI velocity level.
- Alternately, when Expand over Multiple Cells is chosen in Preferences, the chosen samples will be distributed over individual Cells when loaded.
Battery 3
- Go to the Battery 3 Options menu (File > Options).
- Enable the option Map Multiple Samples in One Cell on Load.
Note: In earlier Battery 3 versions, this option is labeled Load Multiple Samples Into One Cell.
- Drag and drop some samples into one Cell. Once loaded, you will find each sample listed separately in the Mapping tab. In the screenshot below, each sample is set to be triggered individually, based on the incoming MIDI velocity level.
- Alternately, when Load Multiple Samples Into One Cell is disabled, the chosen samples will be distributed over individual Cells when loaded.
