This article explains how to create TRAKTOR Remix Sets with samples and / or loops created with MASCHINE.
Method 1: Using MASCHINE's Audio Drag & Drop function
MASCHINE's Audio Drag & Drop function can be used to drag loops or one-shots from MASCHINE directly into slots of TRAKTOR's Remix Decks.
-
Click and hold your mouse button down on the Audio Dragger icon to initialize the Audio Export for the entire Kit and the selected Pattern.
If you want to export a single Sound in the Group, you can switch the Pattern Editor to Keyboard view and put the focus on the desired Sound before using the audio dragger.
- Click and hold the mouse button and keep it held while the Exporting Audio process finishes and shows the audio file which can now be dragged to TRAKTOR's remix decks.
The audio will be exported as a WAV audio file and according to the current settings of the Export Audio panel (under File > Export Audio...). Thus, if you wish to export loops rather than one-shots, ensure that the Loop Optimize option is enabled.
- Drag your sound to an empty slot in one of TRAKTOR's Remix Decks and release the mouse button to drop it there.
You can change a Deck Flavor to a Remix Deck by clicking the Deck letter (A, B, C or D) or changing it in the Decks Layout section of TRAKTOR's Preferences.
- The new sample appears in the selected Remix Deck slot.
In order to differentiate between different sounds and patterns, it's recommended to double-click on the samples and rename them in the Remix Deck.
- Set each Remix Deck slot as Loop or One-Shot in the Advanced panel of the Remix Deck in order to define its playback behaviour.
- Once you have imported your samples into TRAKTOR, they should appear in Track Collection. To find them easily, click on Track Collection in the Browser tree and sort the track list by Import Date. Click Import Date twice to bring the newly imported sounds to the top of your list.
- Tag the sounds you have just loaded into TRAKTOR as either Looped Samples or One-Shot Samples by right-clicking them and choosing the corresponding function from the menu. You can do this for single sounds or a selection of multiple ones.
Method 2: Using MASCHINE's Audio Export function
In File > Export Audio... it is possible to export your samples individually (i.e. kick drum, snare drum, hi-hat etc.), as groups, or as the entire master output of MASCHINE with all sounds included in a pattern. If you intend for your samples to be loops, enable the option Loop Optimize.
- Once you have exported your samples, navigate to the folder you had chosen under the Destination section of the Export Song as Audio dialog window.
- Drag your sounds from the folder to empty slots in one of TRAKTOR's Remix Decks and release the mouse button to drop it there.
- The new sample(s) will appear in the selected Remix Deck slot.
