Crossgrades, upgrades and updates are software license types. A product acquired through an update / upgrade / crossgrade is identical to the full version of the same product. The difference lies in its license type, which is dependent on a "qualifying base product" (the product from which you performed the update / upgrade / crossgrade). This type of license can be considered as a discount which you receive because you own a qualifying base product. Examples of each license type are provided below:
- Update: You need an update if you want a newer version of a product you already own.
Example: Update from KOMPLETE 7 to KOMPLETE 10, or KONTAKT 2 to KONTAKT 5.
- Upgrade: You need an upgrade if you want a bigger version of a product you already own.
Example: Upgrade KOMPLETE 10 to KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE, or GUITAR RIG LE to GUITAR RIG 5 PRO.
- Crossgrade: You need a crossgrade if you want a related but different product as the one you already own.
Example: Crossgrade from an official 3rd party KONTAKT library to KONTAKT 5.
To find out if you qualify for any of these discounts, log in to our web shop with the exact same email address you used to activate your products. As soon as you visit a pricing page or press the BUY NOW button, our web shop will always suggest the best price automatically. You can choose the license type by clicking on the drop-down menu of the product's pricing page.
Note: You may also purchase a "qualifying base product" and a "crossgrade" in the same order, but as our web shop scans software activation in our database and NOT your shopping cart, you should ignore the warning that "you don´t own a qualifying base product" for the crossgrade.
