When trying to load an Instrument from the KONTAKT Libraries Browser, you may receive the following error message:
"*Instrument name*.nki" could not be loaded. Maybe it has been written with a newer version of the Kontakt
This message appears when you try to load an Instrument in KONTAKT which has originally been created with a newer version of KONTAKT. KONTAKT patches are not backwards-compatible with previous KONTAKT versions.
To solve this problem, follow the instructions below:
- Install KONTAKT's latest update, which you will find in Native Access, Service Center or on the Updates page of our website. If you are a KONTAKT PLAYER user, you can install the latest KONTAKT PLAYER version by downloading it from the KONTAKT PLAYER page of our website.
- If you are using KONTAKT as a plug-in within a host application on Windows and still receive this error message after having installed KONTAKT's lastest update, KONTAKT's plug-in file has not been updated correctly. This happens if the plug-in file has been moved after its original installation. In this case, please read our article explaining how to resolve issues with the NI plug-ins using the NI VST tool.
