My MASCHINE 2 Browser is Empty or Incomplete

If your MASCHINE 2 Browser is empty or incomplete (i.e. individual presets or products are missing), please follow these troubleshooting steps.

1. Install the Latest MASCHINE 2 Update

Your Expansions or KOMPLETE Instruments may require a newer MASCHINE 2 software version than the one installed on your system. Open Native Access and install all available updates.

2. Selecting the Factory Content

Make sure that you are selecting the Factory Content instead of the User Content. The Content selector uses a single button (i.e. the "person symbol") for toggling the Browser between the Factory and User Libraries. To select the Factory Content, the Content selector button should not be highlighted.

3. Reinitializing the MASCHINE 2 Database

If the MASCHINE 2 Browser is still incomplete, it is recommended to reinitialize the MASCHINE 2 database. This procedure is presented below for both macOS and Windows systems.

Reinitializing the MASCHINE 2 Database on macOS

1. Close MASCHINE 2 and all other music applications.
2. Navigate to the following folder:
   Macintosh HD > Users > *Your User Name* > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Maschine 2
   

   Note: The User Library is a hidden folder on macOS.

3. Delete the "komplete.db3" file by right-clicking it and choosing Move to Trash.
   
4. Also delete the Favorites database file that is used by the MASCHINE 2 software.
   

   Note: We recommend saving a backup copy of the Favorites database file before deleting it.

5. In the macOS Finder, navigate to the following folder:
   Macintosh HD > Users > *Your User Name* > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Shared
   

   Note: The User Library is a hidden folder on macOS.

6. Delete the "favorites.db3" file by right-clicking it and choosing Move to Trash.
7. Relaunch the MASCHINE 2 software and wait for the database to be rebuilt. 
   
   Once completed, your MASCHINE 2 Browser will display all of the content installed on your system.

Reinitializing the MASCHINE 2 Database on Windows

1. Close MASCHINE 2 and all other music applications.
2. Click the Windows Start Button on the bottom left of your screen.
3. Type %localappdata% into the search bar, then press Enter.
4. This will open the following folder location:
   C: > Users > *Your User Name* > AppData > Local
   From here, navigate to the folders; Native Instruments > Maschine 2.
5.  Delete the "komplete.db3" file by right-clicking it and choosing Delete.
   
6. Also delete the Favorites database file that is used by the MASCHINE 2 software.
   

   Note: We recommend saving a backup copy of the Favorites database file before deleting it.

7. Click the Windows Start Button on the bottom left of your screen.
8. Type %localappdata% into the search bar, then press Enter.
9. This will open the following folder location:
   C: > Users > *Your User Name* > AppData > Local
   From here, navigate to the folders; Native Instruments > Shared.
10. Delete the "favorites.db3" file by right-clicking it and choosing Delete.
11. Relaunch the MASCHINE 2 software and wait for the database to be rebuilt.
    
    Once completed, your MASCHINE 2 Browser will display all of the content installed on your system.

4. Loading Third-Party Content

Only third-party products which are NKS-ready will appear in the MASCHINE 2 Browser. You can find a list of NKS-ready products here.

You can load all other third-party plug-ins in the Control area of the MASCHINE 2 2 Software. At the far left of the Control area, click the little Plug-in icon. You can browse your plug-ins by clicking the area marked with a '+' sign.
