Setting Up the Maschine Sequencer Example Patch in Reaktor 6

This article explains how to set up the Maschine Sequencer example patch in Reaktor 6.

Note: the Maschine Sequencer requires at least Reaktor 6.0.1. You will find this update in Native Access or on the Updates page of our website.

1. Download the Maschine Sequencer Block Files from the Reaktor User Library

Start by downloading the necessary Maschine Sequencer Block files from the Reaktor User Library on our website.

The "Maschine_Sequencer" folder contains the following files:

  • "Maschine_Sequencer_example_patch.ens": this patch contains the Maschine Sequencer Block set up to trigger the Niji Drums Blocks.
  • "SEQ-Maschine Sequencer.ism": this is the Maschine Sequencer Block file which you can use to build your own Reaktor Block patches.
  • "Reaktor Blocks - Maschine Studio.ncmst": this is the Controller Editor template for the Maschine Studio controller.
  • "Reaktor Blocks - Maschine Mk2.ncm2": this is the Controller Editor template for the Maschine MK2 controller.

2. Loading the Template in Controller Editor

  1. Start Controller Editor. It is located here on your hard drive:
    • OS X: Applications > Native Instruments > Controller Editor
    • Windows: Program Files > Native Instruments > Controller Editor
  2. In the upper-left corner of Controller Editor, select your controller model. In our example, we select Maschine Controller MK2.

  3. Go to the Templates tab and select Open in the Edit menu.

  4. Navigate to the "Maschine_Sequencer" folder you have downloaded previously. Choose the "Reaktor Blocks - Maschine Mk2.ncm2" template file if you are using a Maschine MK2 controller, or the "Reaktor Blocks - Maschine Studio.ncmst" if you are using Maschine Studio. Once done, press Open.

  5. The Maschine Sequencer Template now shows up in your Templates list.

You can now close Controller Editor.

3. Setting Up Reaktor for the Sequencer

  1. Ensure your Maschine controller is in MIDI mode by pressing:
    • SHIFT + CHANNEL if you are using a Maschine Studio controller.
    • SHIFT + CONTROL if you are using a Maschine MK2 Controller.
  2. Start Reaktor 6.
  3. Select Audio and MIDI Settings... from the Menu Bar.

  4. Go to the MIDI tab. Under Inputs:
    • OS X: set Maschine MK2 Virtual Input to On.
    • Windows: set Maschine MK2 In to On.

  5. Under Outputs :
    • OS X: set Maschine MK2 Virtual Output to On.
    • Windows: set Maschine MK2 Out to On.

  6. Load the "Maschine_Sequencer_example_patch.ens" file to Reaktor by dragging it to Reaktor's Main area. You can drag the file from Reaktor's Files Browser, or directly from your OS X Finder / Windows Explorer.

  7. The example patch of the Maschine Sequencer is now loaded in Reaktor. With this patch, you can use the Maschine Sequencer Block to trigger the Niji Drums Block.
