Here we collect questions and answers about the new Maschine 3 software:
Will there be new hardware for the Maschine 3 software?
At this time, no new hardware is planned. We are focused on optimizing the workflow with the current Maschine MK3 to make it the best experience possible.
Is Maschine 3 compatible with Maschine MK1 / MK2 or Maschine Mikro MK1 / MK2?
NI has ended software support for Maschine MK1 / MK2 and Maschine Mikro MK1 / MK2 and these controllers are not compatible with the Maschine 3 software. This means that Maschine Jam, Maschine Studio, Maschine Mikro MK3, Maschine MK3 and Maschine Plus are still supported. More info in this article.
Can the Kontrol S-Series MK3 be integrated with the Maschine 3 software?
At this time, the integration is focused on standalone mode only (i.e. Maschine running as an application, rather than a plug-in). This means that in standalone mode, it offers support for Transport, Play Assist, and seamless hosted plug-in control powered by NKS.
We have tried to focus the keyboard integration on the most important additional functions, i.e. the functions that would be most useful on an additional controller compared to the Maschine hardware itself. We will continue to build on this experience over time.
Will you restore the same level of integration between Maschine and the Kontrol keyboards that we had with the Kontrol S-Series MK2?
We may continue to iterate on this experience over time, but we will not restore the full integration, as this relies on specific hardware buttons and functions that the Kontrol S MK3 does not have.
Will Maschine 3 continue to fully integrate with the Kontrol S-Series MK2?
Yes, Kontrol MK2 integration will be retained.
Will Maschine support polyphonic aftertouch from MIDI controllers?
Support for polyphonisc aftertouch from MIDI controllers is coming soon.
Is there a grace period for recent purchases?
There is a 30 day grace period.
Any customer who purchased or registered a new Maschine hardware device or Maschine 2 software on or after October 6th, 2024 is eligible for a complimentary upgrade to Maschine 3 software.
