With the releases of KOMPLETE KONTROL 2.1 and MASCHINE 2.8, the Native Kontrol Standard has been updated to create a central tagging scheme for loops and samples.
With these versions of the software, all Library presets will be automatically updated to the new tagging scheme.
For User presets the change is optional: you may choose to keep your old tags or update them to the new scheme in order to avoid old and new versions of the tags being mixed together.
If you have saved User presets that used the old tagging scheme, a yellow UPDATE button will be visible at the top of your browser window. This option is only available in the Instruments, Effects, One-shots or Loops section of the User Browser.
You can keep the old tagging scheme for your User presets by simply ignoring the UPDATE button.
If you wish to update your User presets to the new tagging scheme, press the UPDATE button and confirm the following dialogue:
Please be aware that the changes are permanent and cannot be undone. These changes will not affect the functionality of MASCHINE or KOMPLETE KONTROL, nor have any negative effect on older projects.
What Are the Changes to the Tagging Scheme?
- The tags "Loops" and "One-shots" will be removed from the top-level Type tag. These are no longer necessary now that the Browser has separate tabs for Loop and One-shot samples.
- Samples could previously have a Type, Sub-Type, and a Sub-Sub-Type. In the newer scheme, there is only Type and Sub-Type. If your content had any custom tags at the Sub-sub-type level, those tags will be moved over to the new CHARACTERS tag category (which was previously called "Modes" in the older tagging scheme).
While you may choose to leave your own content using the older tags, new content created for MASCHINE and KOMPLETE KONTROL will use the newer tagging scheme. This will cause both old and new versions of the tags to be mixed together in the various tag clouds.
The option to update the tag scheme will persist as long as content with older version tags exists. Thus, if you don't choose to update the tags now, you will still have the option to do it later.
