Favorites in the BATTERY 4, KOMPLETE KONTROL and MASCHINE 2 Browsers allow you to quickly view and browse your most frequently used Preset files. Any Preset file can be assigned to become a Favorite.
Sometimes it is useful to create a backup of your Favorites, e.g. if you have to reinstall your operating system or want to access the same Favorites on a different computer.
Note: BATTERY 4, KOMPLETE KONTROL and MASCHINE 2 Favorites are stored on a single shared database file. Presets that are marked as Favorites in KOMPLETE KONTROL will automatically appear as Favorites in the BATTERY 4 / MASCHINE 2 Browser (and vice-versa).
Locating the Favorites Database File
Quit BATTERY 4 / KOMPLETE KONTROL / MASCHINE 2 and all other music software and find the Favorites database file in this location of your computer:
- macOS:
Macintosh HD > Users > 'Username' > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Shared > 'favorites.db3'
Note: The User Library is a hidden folder on macOS. See this article for instructions to access this hidden system location.
- Windows:
C: > Users > 'Username' > AppData > Local > Native Instruments > Shared > 'favorites.db3'
Note: 'AppData' is a hidden folder by default. This article explains how to make it visible.
Backing up Favorites
You can copy the 'favorites.db3' file and store it as a backup for later use. If you want to restore the Favorites, copy the file back to its original location shown above.
Transferring Favorites to a Different Computer
If you want to use your Favorites on a different computer, you can simply move the 'favorites.db3' file to the same location on the new computer. Please note that you can only have one Favorites file in that folder. If you do not need the existing Favorites on the new computer, you can delete or overwrite the file. Otherwise, you can also create a backup for later use.
