How to Load an Expansion in MASCHINE

Native Instruments Expansions are sound packs that contain presets for a range of Native Instruments products and samples / loops that can be used in MASCHINE, KOMPLETE KONTROL and any DAW (e.g. Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Cubase, etc.). This article explains where you find your newly installed Expansion content in MASCHINE.

What's included in a specific Expansion?

To find out what's included in a specific Expansion, open the corresponding Expansion's product page.

Scroll down the Expansion's  product page to obtain detailed information about each of the included components. The example below shows what is included in the Expansion CRATE CUTS.

Finding an Expansion's Content in the MASCHINE Browser

Once you have installed your Expansion from Native Access, you can find it in MASCHINE's browser. Please follow the below chapters to learn where to find the individual components:

First Overview of an Expansion's Content

Clicking the drop-down icon will display your Expansion if it contains content in the chosen category.

The example below shows how clicking through the file type selector's icons reveals the respective content included in CRATE CUTS:

All Projects

In the All Projects tab, the 8 Projects mentioned on the Expansion product page are visible:

All Groups

Likewise, under the the All Groups tab, the 45 MASCHINE Kits included in CRATE CUTS are found. Clicking on a kit with the +PATTERNS button enabled will load some of the 140 + patterns included in this Expansion that are exclusive to MASCHINE:

Each kit will have a different number of patterns available.

All Sounds / All Loops / All One-shots

In the All Sounds tab you find the Sampled Instruments. In the All Loops and All One-shots tabs the Sample and Loops content can be found.

Synth Presets

To find the included Synth Presets:

  1. Click on All Instruments in the MASCHINE Browser.

  2. Select the Instrument for which you want to load an Expansion's Synth Preset. MONARK is chosen in the example below:

  3. Click on All Banks. The drop-down menu lists all Expansions installed on your computer. Select the Expansion you want to use, in this example CRATE CUTS:

  4. All the MONARK Presets included in the CRATE CUTS Expansion are now listed in the Browser. Double-click any one of them to load them in MASCHINE.
