    Hello Patrick,

Apologies about the other post, I'm not sure of why it was closed.

The Komplete Kontrol software has never supported using multiple Komplete Kontrol keyboards simultaneously. When one is the "Master Controller" the other(s) usually switch to MIDI mode. This could change in a future version of the Komplete Kontrol software, but as of now, I have not heard any plans mentioned by the Komplete Kontrol team.

I did test this Logic Pro 10.4.6, Live 10.1 and Cubase 10.0.40. The M32 was usually the default "Master", and the only way to get the S88 to become the master is to select it from the Controller menu.

This functionality has been requested before so I will add your info to the feature request.

    Hi Chris,

Many thanks for your reply. I appreciate your help!

I will touch on each of your comments, but therefore first will need to explain the situation a bit better and would appreciate if you can reproduce the steps below.

Can I please run through the following steps:

    • Connect the S88 and leave the M32 disconnected (no cable connected).
    • Create Cubase song and add 3 instruments tracks (Select Komplete Kontrol as the instrument)
    • For each track and Komplete Kontrol instrument, choose a different NKS instrument)
    • This would create something like this:

    • When you now click on each of the Cubase tracks, the S88 will automatically focus/switch to the specific Komplete Kontrol instance. So basically the S88 shows and operates the specific Komplete Kontrol instrument. (No matter if i have 3 instruments or 30) (Really great functionality!!! :-) )
    • Please connect the M32 by connecting the USB cable.
    • The M32 becomes active and the S88 moves to a midi controller state.
    • When pressing 'Plug-In' on the S88, the M32 moves to a midi controller state and the S88 becomes active again
    • However .... The Cubase integration that automatically focusses the S88 when selecting a track, does no longer work! Try selecting each of the 3 tracks and you will notice that the S88 keeps focused on the last Komplete Kontrol instance.

As you can see, connecting the M32 (and having both keyboards connected) will break the 'instrument instance focus' of the Cubase integration. You will notice the same when you move the M32 into plug-in mode. This will also no longer have the 'instrument instance focus' functionality.

I hope I was able to show you the really issue that I was referring to.

To relate this back to your feedback:

I can understand that the controllers will not (currently) work simultaneously (although this would be nice of course if it does that).  But as you can see, the "one is the 'Master Controller' the other(s) usually switch to MIDI mode" does not work here as the Master Controller looses the most important part of its integration.

So my real request is not to have simultaneous control, but to have the issue fixed as described above.

I hope the above explanation has been able to explain the issue.

    Many thanks,
    Patrick

Thanks for the detailed steps, Patrick. Following those, I was able to reproduce what you've described. I've forwarded this information to the Komplete Kontrol team for review.

    Hi Chris,

I was very happy to see the Komplete Kontrol update (2.2.0)! :-)

Unfortunately, after installing it I've noticed that the bug has still not been resolved in this release.

I would appreciate if can update me on the progress? I'm currently not able to use the M32 at all.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Dear support,

It is almost a year ago that I have reported the bug as described above.
I was initially very happy that you have been able to reproduce it, and that it was forwarded to the team for review.
Unfortunately I have’t received any update since.

Each time a new release of the software was communicated, I was hoping for a resolution, but until today, none of the releases have solved the bug.

I’m unable to use the M32 from te moment that I have purchased it. As described in my script .. as soon as it connects to Cubase, the Komplete Kontrol functionally is being impacted and making the 88 mk2 useless.

I really hope you and the development team can make the effort to give us bug some attention and respond to my messages.

    Thank you very much.

    Patrick
