Ok, so after a ton of reading up this is what I think I need to do. Option 1 - change the ndx 400 to ndx900 that way I have 2x900s. Use Traktor audio 2 with Traktor DJ 2. I believe this will let me use my CD controllers and also external mixer but still have the benefits of the Traktor software. Option 2 - purchase Traktor Scratch Pro 2 package. Use the to timecode cd for the ndx 400. Questions on option 2.....will the ndx 900 need the timecoded cd? Do I still need the audio 2 interface to allow me to use the external mixer? Can buy the scratch software separately or do I need to buy as a package and lastly is Traktor Scratch the same as Traktor Scratch Pro (they seem to be referred to as the same on some forums). Thanks

    Hello!

I would definitely recommend you to change the NDX400 to the NDX900 if possible.

You wont need timecode cds for the NDX900, just set it up as explained here:

    https://www.numark.com/kb/article/1411

You could test it with the demo version of Traktor Pro 3 here:

Thank you Daniel. I've managed to change the 400 for a 900 already, just waiting on it being delivered however I'm struggling with how to set it up when it arrives. I want to run an external mixer too however I only have 2 usb ports. I'm assuming I need to use my Audio 2 with my mixer into one usb port. Do I need a usb hub to combine the 2 NDX900s? Thanks again

    Hi Mark,

We very much apologize for the delayed response. In recent months, we’ve seen an unprecedented increase in usage of, and demand for Native Instruments products, as the COVID-19 crisis continues to force many to stay at home. We’re pleased that so many people are turning to music and Native Instruments during this time. But this has also created an enormous challenge for our customer support team.

We’d like to say that we haven’t forgotten about you and your request, but until today we had not been able to further process this post.

Using your two Denon controllers with a USB hub should not be a problem at all. Audio devices should never be used with a hub but always connected straight to the computer.

Do you have your setup all working now?

Hi Mark. I'm all good now thanks. I have the audio device directly into my laptop using an external mixer. I have the 2 NDX900s through the USB hub also into my laptop. I also upgraded to Traktor Pro 3 ( was previously running LE 2). I'm struggling with some mappings though but just haven't had the chance to look into it in detail yet. Thanks, Mark

    Hi Mark,

Mapping is all sorted however I'm having trouble with being able to search for songs in different folders. I can move between folders but can't search for songs in each folder. Is this a problem with my mappings?

I'm also having trouble with a crackling sound now. I have narrowed it down and it seems to only happen when the key lock is on. I've tried to change all the latency settings but can't resolve the issue. Any thoughts?

    Thanks, Mark

    Hi Mark,

did you receive the mapping(s) from a 3rd party? In this case, I can only redirect you to the creator as we cannot take responsibility for the functionality of 3rd party mappings.

The resources I shared above should also enable you to adjust mappings if their functionality should not please you.

In regards to the keylock crackles: are you working on Mac or Windows? Which Keylock mode have you chosen under Preferences > Mixer?

    Hi Mark,

I'm working of Windows 10 64-bit with 4GB of RAM. I also have an Intel Pentium R Gold dual processorr at 2.3GHz.

I had the key lock set to Normal.

I also tried tried running Traktor Pro 3 via the laptop only (no external controllers or mixer) and was getting the same crackling issue.

    Thanks again, Mark

    Hey Mark,

I have checked two Pentium CPUs with 2.3GHz, and none of them is getting even close to the benchmark of the minimum requirement for Pro 3 - which is an i5:

    https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+5405U+%40+2.30GHz&id=3437

    https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+4415U+%40+2.30GHz&id=2977

This would clearly explain your performance issue.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for clarifying that. I thought this may have been the issue which is why I mentioned it.

Thanks for clarifying all my other questions too.

    Mark

    You're welcome!

If Keylock is your only issue and this function isn't indispensable, you could stick with this system. Otherwise you would need to upgrade your computer...
