Symptom
Some CDJ-3000 users have observed that under very heavy bass conditions the deck’s phase meter starts jittering and the tracks playing can get out of sync.
Solution
Traktor 3.10.0 introduces a new Preference setting specifically for the CDJ-3000, called CDJ Rumble Filter. The purpose of this new setting is to reduce the CDJ-3000's sensitivity to such strong, bass-induced rumble.
How to use
With your CDJ-3000 connected, open the Traktor Preferences and select Pioneer CDJ-3000 from the menu on the left. The corresponding slider is called Nudging Sensitivity. It is set to 100% by default, which means that by default no filtering is applied that would reduce the jog wheel’s sensitivity.
If you have a pair of CDJ-3000s at hand in a quiet moment, we recommend exploring the behavior of the sensitivity setting in the extreme 0% position. In this position, a strong filter is applied to the jog wheels, which you may notice when you try to beat match manually by applying small nudges on the jog wheels' outer rim.
At 0% the jog wheel is the least responsive, at 100% it has full responsiveness. Accordingly, at 0% the CDJs is least subject to suffer from bass rumble.
We recommend to set your personal position of the slider as the lowest position where nudging with the jog wheel is still responsive enough for your personal needs.
After you set up the Nudging Sensitivity, you can go on stage and should be protected against bass rumble in 99% of the time.
In a very extreme scenario, if you still observe jittery BPM and tracks drifting out of sync due to rumble, you can solve the problem on the spot by moving the slider all the way down to 0% during your performance and accepting the reduced nudging sensitivity for that time. The next time you perform, you can adjust the slider back to the preferred position.
