When working with samples that have a long decay time (e.g. a crash cymbal), the Note Latch feature in BATTERY 4 can be useful to choke audio playback. Follow the steps below in order to learn how to configure BATTERY 4 for this use.
- Load a sample with a long decay (such as a crash cymbal) onto a Cell in BATTERY 4.
- In the Main tab, activate Volume Envelope and select the AHDSR Mode.
- To choke the sample, turn the Release knob of the AHDSR envelope to the far left.
- Set a minimum amount of Release (e.g. 0.30 ms) as otherwise the choking might lead to a slight click at the end of the sound.
Now the Cymbal will be triggered as long as its respective MIDI note is held down. Once it is let go, audio will stop.
