    Dear users,

We are pleased to inform you that the connectivity issue introduced with February's Windows Updates is now fixed! Our QA confirmed that the error is no longer reproducible on all affected Windows generations with this week's updates installed.

Microsoft has resolved the problem with a fresh round of updates for Windows 7, 8 and 10 which restore the functionality of S4 MK2, Maschine Studio and our MK1 Komplete Kontrol keyboards. Hence, you can now safely update your Windows

If you had switched off or paused Automatic Updates, you can activate this function again now, too.

Thank you very much for your patience and cooperation!

Our engineers have analyzed this issue and concluded that the problem is caused by recent changes implemented in the latest Windows 7/8/10 updates. We have contacted Microsoft to let them know and will update you as soon as we hear back from them.

    The bug fixed !
Great, nevertheless, it has taken to much time. I hope it will never occur again !

Bonjour Mark, depuis la récente update Windows 10 mon komplete kontrol s88 se rallume mais je n'ai plus de midi et le périphérique est encore refusé par Windows qui me dit qu'il n'y a pas de pilote à ce matériel.

The issue with the February Windows Update is still not resolved for me.  I am on  Windows 10 with S88 MK1.  My keyboard is working fine as a generic midi controller, but the Komplete Kontrol Software and Control Editor do not recognize my S88 device.    Through a VST host/DAW the keyboard works fine with NI and 3rd party instruments, I just cant use the the keyboard to navigate instruments under Komplete Kontrol or use the Kontrol Editor.  When I look in my  system device manager, I have one listing under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" with a yellow warning that goes away when I disconnect the keyboard, so I think that may be the malfunctioning driver.  The "Komplete Kontrol MIDI" device listed under "Sound, video and game controllers" shows as functioning properly.

Finally when I uninstall the windows update KB4487017, the problem goes away and so does the device driver warning.

Is anyone else still experiencing similar issues?

    Thank you.

Yes Michael, I'm seeing the same problem as you.  I originally replied to this thread with a big 'thank you' before I actually tried it.  Same issue for me too: my S88 MKI is still not recognized as anything but a generic midi controller by Komplete or Kontakt.

Question for NI: have you verified this issue fixed on machines you have running there for testing?  Or was it just a Microsoft bulletin saying it was fixed?

    Thanks,

    Joel

    Hey Joel,

Yes, we have tested all affected devices on Windows 7,8 and 10. The vast majority of users reported it was working again. If the issue still arises after you did all the last updates in Windows, then please go through this troubleshooter :

    KOMPLETE KONTROL Keyboard Troubleshooting Guide

If the issue persists, please get back to us and we'll investigate further.

Ok thanks Jeremy, I'll try it again, but using that troubleshooting guide this time.  I just hesitate because it takes so long to update and then back out of all of the updates if it doesn't work, which is what I already went thru a couple times.

I will try to get to it this weekend, but I have some music I have to get out and so may need to delay this test so I don't screw up my schedule.

    Jeremy,

I went through everything in the Troubleshooting Guide and am still having the same problem.   I can clarify a little further here though.  Komplete Kontrol and all of my other VST instruments or host applications are picking up the keyboard fine as a generic midi controller.  The only thing I can't do is use Komplete Kontrol Browse /Hardware functions or the Control Editor.  The NKS knobs are not mapped either.  The keyboard is in MIDI mode even when used under Komplete Kontrol.

The only clues I have are (1) when I uninstall that windows update everything works fine and (2) in my Windows 10 device manager I have a yellow device driver under "Human Interface Devices" called "USB Input Device".  If I unplug the usb cable for the S88, then the yellow driver drops off the list.  All other devices in all submenus related to the S88 are running fine with no error warnings.

After following the guide, KK is now running as administrator too.

    Please advise on next steps.

    Thank you.

Hey Michael, did you check the official comment up there ? It was fixed on March 12th by Microsoft.

Yes. That was my first comment. The MS fix did not improve things for me. I am up to date with your teouble shoting guide and MS updates but still have an issue.

Also, the symptoms may be getting worse. I had 2 incidents at rehearsals this week seem more similar to the broader population where I loose all midi connectivity, not just the NKS related interfaces. It didnt come back until afer several reboots, etc. I have a gig tonight and am very concerned about stability.

Hey Michael, I'm so sorry, I didn't notice you already had posted before. I had made a ticket for you, I'll check if I can speed up the process. My colleagues have had a load of requests lately. Thanks for your patience.

FYI I received another Microsoft Update last night but no help.

Also for my gig Friday I switched to using the midi port instead of USB and everything was stable. I still want to address thebUSB issue though.

    Thanks.

i am having the same issue this sucks so bad I can't make any music I knew I should have got the AKAI now my keyboard is worthless paperweight. I did all the windows 10 update to no avail. Sold my akai thinking this would be a better experience I feel ripped because I can't return this buggy POS. This is infuriating.

Jason, here is an update on my end.

Last Friday, April 12th, Microsoft pushed out another update to me KB4489868.  This seems to have finally fixed the problem.   Everything has been fine for 1 week now.  It looks like they pushed another update out today too,  KB4023057.  No problems after that either.

So it seems like not everyone is getting the same updates from Microsoft at the same time and it took a lot longer to get to me.

I hope you get an update soon.  If not, the only USB work around I found was to uninstall KB4487017 from February.   However, even on Windows 10 Pro, I could not pause/stop this update from coming back in 24 hours or less.  It's a real pain.

    Good luck.

Hi - This still isnt working for me. Tried the troubleshooting guide, no difference. Im now at MS update KB4346084 and just like everyone else, the keyboard turns on, but you cant navigate/browse & half the functionality is gone.

This is getting a bit silly. Its been an issue for two months now for me and having to keep uninstalling updates is getting to be a severe chore.

    Can someone please help.
